QUICKJump available via ACR

QUICKJump from Head Rush

We are delighted to announce that we have become an authorised distributor for Head Rush products in the UK and a stockist of the QUICKJump range of devices and accessories.

QUICKJump is a revolutionary product which is essentially an autobelay device that has been adapted to allow an initial rapid descent, giving the rider a true ‘free-fall’ experience. Accessories such as the Rip Cord can extend the free fall experience further to create a real adrenaline rush, whilst still maintaining the confidence of the tried and trusted magnetic braking system.

QUICKJump are simple to install; can accommodate a high throughput and are easy to maintain and can be used as a stand alone activity or as part of an overall adventure experience.

Head Rush Distribution Announcement

blog_hr_image

We are excited to announce that a distribution deal with Head Rush Technologies in the US has been agreed, to supply their products to the UK market.

Who are HRT?

These are the guys behind the brilliant magnetic (eddy current) braking system utilised in their TRUBLUE Autobelays that all around the world have been successfully replacing the old Redpoint autobelay system with no known incidents, safety notices or recalls. They have applied innovative technology to bring new adventure recreation equipment to the climbing, zip line, adventure and amusement industry, to make adventure activities safer while offering the ability to increase throughput. You can view the Head Rush catalogue here.

Why have ACR got involved?

Autobelays are not used extensively in the outdoor adventure industry and although a couple of years later HRT launched their zipSTOP product, it wasn’t until 2014 when they launched their QUICKjump product that we thought there would be a demand in the markets that we service. Since then we have liaised closely with a few organisations that immediately installed them to gather feedback on this new product. Overwhelmingly it has been positive!

However purchasing product (particularly high value and heavy product) from the USA is not easy so we made the decision to get involved and become a UK stockist.

Steve Cooper – Group Outdoor Activity & Safety Manager – comments;

“Our new Tree Climbing activity at Sherwood Forest has been a hit from the beginning. Our activities are designed for families to spend time together, to challenge themselves to then emerge more confident, to try new things and be close to nature and this new activity embraces these aspects perfectly! It has been a great experience working with Adventure Climb Rescue on this new activity and we’re sure it will continue to be very popular.”

Zipworld Titan in North Wales

Zipworld Titan in North Wales

. . . . And here it is, the first official video from the newly opened Zipworld Titan in North Wales. It features Wayne and Kevin from ISC flying the trolleys for the very first time at the new Titan site – consisting of 3 sets of 4 lines (890m, 630m and 450m long) and speeds of up to 60mph.

The trolleys are standard 16mm ISC RP075 built with custom spreader bars for the special sit harness which allows the webbing to be set into a W configuration so that the flyer can hold on to them and reduce the amount of rotation (if they want to!)

All these products are available for general sale now.

CE Approval for RP029 Shear Reduction Pulley

RP029 Shear Reduction Block Pulley now CE approved

CCS are thrilled to announce that the popular RP029 Shear Reduction Pulley / Shear Reduction Block has gained CE Approval for use as Personal Protective Equipment..  This makes it the only CE Approved SRP/SRB on the market – that we know of.

This is the first and only all-stainless SRB to have been CE approved and this means that the buyer/user is guaranteed that the item meets/exceeds the requirements laid down in the PPE Directive.

Buyers/users should be aware that if an SRB is not CE marked then it may not meet the requirements of the PPE Directive. Any PPE that is not CE marked should not be sold within the EU for this reason.

The RP029 has a rated MBS of 44kN and is manufactured from SS303 throughout making it the strongest and most robust device on the market. In addition each item is individually serial marked for ease of traceability.

The top bobbin (attachment point) has been designed so that it is compatible with a 10mm long opening Maillon Rapide (GOZ10) which has an MBS of 50kN.
Note that this Maillon is also CE marked as PPE.

Don Stock from Zipstream Adventure in the USA tells us why he thinks the ISC SmartSnap belay system is so good

ss

The SmartSnap™ device is used to prevent users from becoming unclipped from the line at any time. Accidental detachment from safety systems is particularly relevant at transfer points – where there is a high risk of the user being exposed to a fall. But engineering technology has the answer…

The SmartSnap™ has a simple Snaphook design which incorporates a clever key locking mechanism. Once locked in, the user cannot become detached from the line, unless released by the course Supervisor, using the ‘Supervisor’ key.

The main body of the SmartSnap™ is made from High Strength Aluminium. Stainless Steel wear inserts protect the body from contact with the wire– these inserts are easily replaceable. Extended trials on various courses around the world have shown that the SmartSnap™ can cope with extreme use. The ‘Wire’ and ‘Ring’ keys (which are fitted at each transfer point), are made from Solid Stainless Steel, so they are difficult to bend or break and can be left outside during the season.

The SmartSnap™ device is serviceable, and all main wear parts are replaceable. The device is suitable for use on 9– 13mm wire.

The SmartSnap™ is really simple to use and therefore doesn’t require in depth user training; it is lightweight and therefore is perfectly suitable for children to use; and it has been designed so that it is easy to retro-fit to an existing course.

The SmartSnap™ is a perfect product for Course owners who recognise the need to improve safety on their course without breaking the bank.

“We love the SmartSnap system because it embodies two critical values that are central to our operating ethos; it provides 100% tie-off security by disallowing unintentional disconnection from the belay system, while also retaining participant involvement in the transfer process. It’s an ingenious product and is the standard belay system we use for our ZIPStream® brand of aerial adventure parks “.
